Across ten flagship stores in Italy, Veralab built a cohesive, dynamic visual identity powered by Uniview's modular GX Pro LED perimeter strips — distributed by Exhibo and installed by Video Sistem.
Veralab's brand expansion plan — opening ten stores across Italy — has been made possible by adopting Uniview LED walls: flexible, quick-to-set-up digital communication devices distributed by Exhibo and installed by Video Sistem.
Before exploring Veralab's visual design requirements for their stores, it's worth briefly exploring the brand's history and the unique message that defines it.
The driving force behind Veralab is Cristina Fogazzi, a businesswoman and social media influencer known online as "The Cynical Esthetician". Ten years ago, she founded the brand building on the success of her personal blog and her first beauty salon, BellaVera (opened in 2009). Since then, the brand has rapidly become one of Italy's most popular and best-selling, supported by a massive community (over a million followers). The brand's beauty concept is rooted in inclusivity and authenticity, rejecting stereotypes and celebrating every body, even with its imperfections.
True to this identity, Veralab Stores stand out distinctly from traditional perfumeries and conventional beauty shops. "We've designed modular, interchangeable product displays," explains Gianluca Maffoni, "which let us flexibly adjust layouts based on the products. Inside, we've even set up fitting rooms where customers can walk in, describe their specific needs to sales reps, and get personalized recommendations for the perfect products."
The first objective was to install "digital communication devices designed for continuous reproduction of the brand's institutional content and information on new products." The goal was twofold: to boost brand visibility and provide customers with maximum product line information, engaging them through an impactful visual experience focused on skincare and makeup.
This was further complicated by the need to set up temporary installations for special events. Take Milan's Beauty Week (September 17–21, 2025) as an example — "we temporarily set up a store with visual displays inside, then dismantled everything by the end of the month." This flexible approach allowed the brand to maintain visual consistency even in non-permanent settings.
The architects' design concept features an internal perimeter LED strip positioned approximately two meters above the floor. Depending on the store's size (ranging from 20 to 40 square meters), this continuous strip measures 22–30 meters in length and about one meter in height. Strategically integrated into the layout, the LED strip is flanked by one or two monitors displaying 49, 55, or 75-inch screens for retail displays, with content management handled through a dedicated cloud-based app system.
Massimo Pozzi explains how the perimeter LED strip, designed for displaying brand multimedia content, was achieved through GX Pro series LED modules with a pixel pitch of 1.9 mm, manufactured by Uniview and distributed by Exhibo. Pozzi emphasized that the selection of this series was professionally supported by Exhibo, "enabling the combination of cabinets in various sizes with standardized universal modules, thus allowing for the simple and rapid setup of a customizable modular system."
The key challenge was the 45-degree bevel cut on the panel frames, which was essential for proper alignment when installing them at an angle. "Since these modules are manufactured in China, we chose to source them directly from our warehouse instead of ordering pre-cut components. This approach not only cuts delivery times but also allows us to work with a local supplier to cut the frames right here in Italy, ensuring faster installations."
To overcome the complexities of managing video content across extensive perimeter LED strips, Video Sistem implemented a 4K player capable of controlling the entire system. This solution "configures the modules to display 4K-resolution images, allowing Veralab to create and play content tailored to specific sections of the strip or a single continuous graphic that spans the entire perimeter, all through a single file without relying on complex external video processors."
"Regarding height, the 4K resolution reaches 2,160 pixels, while the width can extend up to 3,840 pixels. However, in some cases — we created strips up to 12 meters long, exceeding 3,840 pixels." In these cases, the video playback is divided into two sections, generating a total content width of approximately 5,000 pixels, distributed equally between the two players.
Standardization of Installation Time — Pozzi further noted that Video Sistem has established a standardized "quick-install" system. "We pre-assemble and test everything directly in the factory, so when we arrive at the retail outlet, we already have the sections complete and ready for installation." Three key system features support this:
The GX Pro series supports multiple cabinet sizes, offering flexible configuration options for different retail layouts and dimensions. In the Veralab project, this modular design helped create a continuous LED perimeter strip that could be adapted to the specific requirements of each store.
GX Pro provides the brightness and image performance required for indoor retail applications. In the Veralab stores, the LED panels were operated at a suitable brightness level for the indoor environment, delivering clear and engaging visuals for continuous brand content.
The all-aluminum chassis supports effective passive heat dissipation, making the system well suited to controlled indoor retail environments. Combined with the stores' air-conditioned interiors, this design supports stable operation while reducing the need for active cooling.
Both Massimo Pozzi and Gianluca Maffoni expressed their appreciation for the implemented solution and the support provided by Exhibo, emphasizing that the collaboration was decisive for the successful completion of the project. For Video Sistem, Exhibo's contribution was not only technical and operational but also economic, enabling the company to approach the initial investment phase with greater confidence. "Exhibo guaranteed us continuous assistance by promptly responding to urgent requests and setting up dedicated warehouse logistics, ensuring supply continuity and adherence to the client's timelines."
Veralab's Senior Development & Merchandising Manager expresses full satisfaction with the work carried out by Video Sistem and the high quality of the LED modules. "Massimo Pozzi has always been a punctual professional, delivering top-tier solutions. I've known him for years, having worked with him on multiple projects for Veralab, including the entire video, display, and video conferencing systems when we moved our Milan offices to a new location in June 2024." He also values the team's reliability, seriousness, and continuous support — "always ready to assist the customer with any need. When setting up stores under tight deadlines, this is a crucial requirement."
The Veralab Stores created with Exhibo solutions — as Maffoni concludes — represent a success. Not only because the objectives set during the design phase were achieved, but also because the technical choices "enhanced the concept of retail spaces, perfectly embodying the founder's vision: a dynamic, modular, and interchangeable environment."
